Add to basketThis is a first edition of A Silver-Plated Spoon, the memoir of John Russell, 13th Duke of Bedford (1917-2002).
It's an excellent book--and it was a huge best-seller, although copies are now hard to find. The Russells are one of the oldest families in England and this is their story, as well as the story of how John managed to hang onto the Bedford estate, the magnificent Woburn Abbey, when he inherited a huge amount of property and an equally large amount of debt.
This copy is scarlet boards with a brilliant gold design; the family crest and motto are on the cover. 246 pages. The dust jacket has been damaged and repaired. The book itself is in excellent shape--there is a water mark on the back cover but it is otherwise in fine condition.
