This collection includes one book each for The Butler, The Chambermaid, The Cook, The Laundress, and The Waitress (the only missing volume is The Child's Nurse). Each book features a colored frontispiece and an introduction by Maurice A. Bigelow, Director of the School of Practical Arts at Columbia University at the time of publication (1917). The books were written both to train and improve the condition of household workers, and they provide a fascinating look at women's work in early twentieth century America. 76-84 pages per book. 6.75" x 4.25".
