About this Item
vii, 55 pp., 10 inserted plates from photographs by Sarah I. Keeler; 12mo, natural linen with printed paper title label on front board. Charles Keeler (1871-1937) was a close friend of influential Berkeley architect Bernard Maybeck. He was also Maybeck's first residential client, a project that broke ground in 1902 and launched the Arts & Crafts design tradition in the San Francisco Bay Area. Plate at p. 46 "Library of Wood with Interior Timber Work Exposed" shows the library at the Keeler home; the plate at p. 52 "California Home in the Spirit of a Swiss Chalet" shows Maybeck's own Berkeley home. Moderate soiling to cover cloth, some scattered spotting internally, but overall near very good. Seller Inventory # 22828
