To mark the passing of this most curious of pop phenomena Mancunian writer Mick Middles has reconstructed and updated his original best selling biography of The smiths to present "The Complete Story". The book is both a detailed biography and critical comment on The Smiths which follows their controversial career from early days at Manchester's Electric Circus, where Steven Morrissey first drew attention to himself, to the rancorous rift between Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr which split the band amid confusion and lost ideals. Along the way, Middles examines Morrissey's diverse influences and aesthetic lifestyle of celibacy and squeamish vegetarianism, Johnny Marr's contrary image and growing confidence as an instrumentalist now in great demand as a session musician, and the disproportionately low profile of the loyal rhythm section they left behind, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.' (Quote taken from the back cover). ***A nice copy of the new edition of this biography of The Smiths - fully revised after the demise of the band. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
