CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Small amount of spine wear to bottom edge, old repair to top of spine, corners starting; light soiling. Interior is clean and tight. Very nice condition, especially considering its age. With clear, mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Sections include Brigade regimental information on the 33nd Indiana by Joseph Shelton, 22nd Wisconsin, 19th Michigan, & 85th Indiana by Lt.Col. J.E. Brant. The 22nd Wisconsin, along with the Indiana and Michigan regiments served in the Middle Tennessee and later the Atlanta Campaign. REFERENCES: DORN I WI #154: NEVINS I pg 62: "This narrative by the chaplain of the 22nd Wisconsin is a hodgepodge of diary quotations, extracts from letters, poetry, and observations both factual and philosophical. His descriptions of the victims of Sherman's march are particularly good." COULTER 49: 'Letters from the front, portions of a diary, poetry, official reports, and newspaper excerpts make this a conglomerate mass of material, but continuity is maintained by liberal use of the letters and diary. This account is a simple narrative of the widespread pillaging and burning that continued to the North Carolina line, and is generally free from bitterness. Bradley found the slaves jubilant and the white people downcast and ready to quit the war.".
