El primer volumen de la Historia de Cicognara incluye una oportunista dedicatoria a Napol�on, emperador de Francia y rey de Italia, citado tambi�n en el t�tulo; los dos tomos siguientes, publicados en Venecia en 1816 y 1818, tras la ca�da de Bonaparte, cambian el t�tulo de portada por: Storia della scultura dal suo Risorgimento in Italia sino al secolo XIX. I contiene los libros 1-3: proleg�menos sobre la escultura y artes menores relacionadas; templos italianos con obra escult�rica antigua y primera �poca: desde los or�genes hasta Donatello; el vol. II contiene los libros 4 y 5, sobre la segunda �poca -desde Donatello hasta Miguel �ngel- y la tercera -Miguel �ngel-; el vol. III contiene los libros 6 y 7, sobre las �pocas cuarta y quinta o siglos de Bernini y Canova, respectivamente.
