Important partly original edition of the poems of the Edda, the most important source for knowledge of Scandinavian mythology. It was made according to the "Codex Regius" manuscript discovered in Iceland in 1643 and preserved in the Royal Library of Copenhagen. 2 engraved plates reproducing two leaves of the "Codex Regius". Hafniae Sumtibus Legati Magnaeani and Glydenbalii 1787. in-4. XLVII. (1). 722pp. 2ff. 2 pl. 1787. Deaccessioned from the Brooklyn Museum Library, Charles Edwin Wilbour Collection, #33914. Name "CHARLES EDWIN WILBOUR" stamped several places in book.; B&W Illustrations; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall.
