About this Item
The first of three "pre-primers" in the foundational "Dick & Jane" readers by which millions of children in mid-20th-century America learned to read. Beloved by those who grew up with them, now long out of use in the curriculum, they illuminate not only educational practices during this period, but insights into larger social & cultural instruction with their exclusive emphasis on white, middle class, nuclear families carrying out stereotypical gender roles. These softcover primers are more scarce than the hardcover texts, as they frequently did not survive repeated use by multiple little hands. This is a FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1962, with decorative green wrappers, bound on the left side with white cloth, 3-staples in center, in 48 pages, illustrated throughout, with vocabulary list in rear. Though from a school library, it is marked only be 2 small stamps (one front, one back), & is in VG condition: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong, pages white & unmarked. Light exterior surface soiling & some rubbed spots (likely insect damage) to upper & lower edges of both cover. SPECIAL: order all 3 of these primers & take 25% off, + No extra shipping charges beyond the first book! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
