In eighteenth-century England, Dr. Johnson and his biographer, James Boswell, investigate nine mysteries which involve highwaymen, hidden treasure, and murder. These delightful, cerebral mysteries which have more in common with Sherlock Holmes. The stories are related by James Boswell, the real life biographer of Dr. Samuel Johnson. Some are based upon actual events with Johnson and Boswell added by literary license. In all of the stories the language and surroundings ring true to the period.
