Add to basketGood Minus condition ex-library copy of this scarce history of the mission at San Juan Capistrano, home of the oldest building in California that is still in use, a chapel built in 1782. The author, Father Zephyrin Engelhardt, wrote histories of all the California missions as well as many other solid and well-regarded works of history, including The Franciscans in California (1897) and The Missions and Missionaries of California (1908-1915). This is an ex-library copy with standard library markings. The spine is partially cracked at a couple of places, but pages are firmly bound in. One page is partially torn out at the beginning of the book -- either the second free endpage or the half-title page. There are also a few small tears and chips in pages but pages are only lightly toned and most of them are entirely clean. Covers are only lightly soiled and gilt design is still bright. Corners are all lightly bumped and/or a little rubbed and frayed, as are the top and bottom edges of the spine. No evidence of water damage. We will pack it in bubble-wrap and will ship it in a sturdy box to ensure safe delivery.
