First edition. Fine in fine, fresh dustwrapper with a single short tear on the front panel. Novel about a group of sandhogs (tunnel builders working under New York's East River) which includes some elements of the labor novel. Great Brandywine-style jacket art. Chase wrote both fiction and screenplays in a number of genres for several decades. Today he is best remembered for the classic western *Red River*. Seller Inventory # 40340
