A very good copy of the first edition, lacking a dust-jacket (probably as issued). Previous owner's modest address label atop front free endpaper, else the binding and jacket are bright and fresh in appearance. Laid in is a two-page photocopied typed letter, dated July 26, 1972, in which Helen Bingham offers numerous corrections to the text: "At the risk of making this book appear used," she writes, "I have taken upon myself to correct some misunderstandings made during the final stages of its printing." The letter bears a typed, not a written, signature. A sharp copy.
