21 x 14 cm (8vo). pp 94. Original grey card wraps with yapp edges. With a later handwritten note laid in, on headed paper from Kirkland of Parton, Castle Douglas, providing biographical and contextual annotations to a few of the pieces. Also laid in is a printed note urging readers not to lend the book but to recommend that their friends buy a copy as the proceeds were being donated to a local hospital. Wraps with a few spots; yapp edges with small closed tears. Spotting to edges of text block. A few spots to a couple of pages at front and rear; otherwise clean internally. Binding tight. A scarce collection of poetry, short essays and anecdotes. The author's family had a background in the Manchester cotton trade and was closely associated with the village of Parton near Castle Douglas in south-west Scotland.
