London: The Bodley Head, 1961. 1st edition. Hardcover; D/J. 123 p; inside covers have a reproduction of a page from his journals. Very Good++: very slight marking on top edge; owner's bookplate on ffep; else near fine. D/J: spine and very top edge of covers faded, else near fine. Fascinating view of an author's notes and observations that may, or just as often, not be part of a novel, in this case A Burnt-Out Case and The Heart Of The Matter. The 2nd journal, Convoy To West Africa, written in 1941, is particularly interesting. It is also a beautifully produced small volume.
