Item description from seller

Kaye's second memoir follows the post-war decade in which she and Percy Muir rebuilt their lives and the Elkin Mathews business from rural Essex. She recalls the rhythms of country living, the steady revival of the antiquarian trade, and the eccentric, loyal clientele who sought them out. Blending domestic detail with bookselling lore, she offers a warm, sharply drawn portrait of partnership, professionalism, and the quiet satisfactions of running a literary enterprise far from London's bustle. 10 pages, 350 pages, 18 illustrations. Original lettered cloth, with a dustwrapper. Size: 15 x 23 cms. Category: Varied Books; Books on Books; New Arrivals; ISBN: 0907961088. ISBN/EAN: 9780907961086.
