True first British printing. No jacket as issued. 238 pages plus two pages of publisher's adverts to rear. Illustrations by J. Lockwood Kipling. Blue boards with gold lettering/design to spine and design in gold to front are good with pushing/bumping to corners, one large mark to front, a few other smaller marks, a little darkening to spine, the odd small bump to edges, a few small scratches, patchy rubbing to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/little fraying/small splits to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Some (quite) major spine lean. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight (slightly pulled towards middle of book - however book is not in danger of falling apart). All edges gilt (little scratched). Pages little tanned. One small (approx. 1cm) split to backing paper inside front board. Occasional small marks/spots of foxing to pages. No other faults.
