Wertham, this book and his crusade against comics led to the modern Comics Code Authority as we know it. The movement against so-called violent and/or suggestive comics gained strength when Senator Kefauver brought the issue before Congress in 1954. The reaction to Wertham and Kefauver put countless comics and publishers out of business. A must have for the collector of vintage comics and/or the free press. Like the majority of the first edition copies in the US, this copy lacks the bibliography. SELLER NOTE: The cover art for this UK first edition far exceeds that of the American edition in our opinion. Light offsetting to rear endpaper. Fainet foxing to gutters.
