New York: Wynkoop & Sherwood, 1868. Hardcover. 8vo. Very good. FIRST EDITION. Original ornate green cloth with elaborate armorial design in gilt on cover. Gilt lettering on spine. Gilt still very bright. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners with small 1 1/2" split at bottom of upper joint and a small chip to cloth at head of spine. Book slightly splayed. Brown colored endpapers with recent bookplate to front pastedown. Archival fabric tape epair to hinge of a few pages where they appear to have been reattached. Contents very good with only a few smudges and spots of foxing. 30 full page hand colored plates each with 2 to 3 pages of text. Plates extremely bright and good, very good copy in attractive binding. Auction invoice from 1949 and illustrated article about historic costumes laid in. FASH/010826.
