First edition hardback, 1959, with unclipped jacket. In overall very good used condition in a good dust jacket with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - dust jacket tanned to spine and upper edges with a couple of small chips. (now protected); boards clean and crisp. Binding tight and appears little read. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; toning to page-ends but text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Includes the publisher� s original Request For a Review slip and a publicity photograph of Langston Hughes (reproduced on the front cover) by Henri Cartier Bresson, both loosely inserted. Not an old library book.
