About this Item
4to. Blue wrappers. Edition limited to 25 copies. John Addison Birkbeck (1904-1971) latterly ran his own private press, the Rathalpin Press, in Dundee; the year previously it had produced his A Scottish Private Press: the Tragara Press, Edinburgh. On his death his widow passed much of his library and printing equipment to the National Library of Scotland. Alexander McLeish Frizzell (1920-1996), a fellow bookseller of Alan Anderson's and a producer of enticing Scottish book-lists, operated his own Castlelaw Press, from West Linton in Peeblesshire, from 1969. Steven Halliwell, the Tragara Press's bibliographer, notes: "This is the only publication issued by the Tragara Press where the colophon states that anyone printed with Alan Anderson.".
