Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: ".this long-awaited book will provide most of the information need to understand and appreciate the many-sided talents of a truly remarkable, energetic man- Seneca Ray Stoddard of Glenn Falls, N.Y. (1844-1917).Widely acclaimed during his eventful career as a photographer in the same league as Mathew Brady and William H. Jackson, Stoddard also earned nearly equal fame as a guidebook writer and mapmaker. Lesser known were his attainments as an outstanding artist, witty author, inventor, hard-hitting editor and publisher, wide-ranging traveler and lecturer. The details and stories behind these varied accomplishments are very informative and entertaining. Of particular interest to those who love the Adirondacks is the account of Stoddard's important role in the successful effort to establish the Adirondack Park in 1892." Please see the photos of the Table of Contents and the List of Illustrations, including the photos of Adirondack Miscellany." Condition: This book is in very good condition. I cannot say the same for its dust jacket which has some small chips and tears on the top and bottom edges. The hard covers are generally clean and bright, barely bumped except for a bruise on the bottom edge. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and photos are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. …
