Consists of 27 card pages with 13 mounted photos pf Shakespeare characters followed by related illuminated text, followed by publishers 20 page illustrated lists. 8 x 6 inch. All the unpaginated card pages are loose from the binding but all are present and correct (checked against The British Museums copy). The external spine is missing but the dark green end-papers are unbroken and the decorative bevelled boards are still connected. Please see photos for a better idea of the condition of this scarce work. All edges gilt. The pages are good and clean with just minor spotting/age staining (more so to the lists). Described by publisher as "Illustrated with photographs from the fine paintings of Mr Lewis, exhibited at Stratford-on-Avon on the celebration of the Shakespeare Tercentenary. Each portrait and the accompanying letterpress set in exquisite illuminated borders. Executed in the finest manner by Samuel Stanesby.". Seller Inventory # 08524c
