Moderate foxing. 12 x 6mm loss to lower blank corner of title leaf. 22 x 10mm loss to lower blank corner of final leaf. Rebound 20th century in marbled papered card boards with cloth spine, with most of original printed front wrapper laid down on front board board. Chips, foxing, staining and abrasions to the front wrapper. The letterpress printing on the front wrapper is similar to on the title page, but it also has a typographical border and "Price 3s." ; Uncommon. iv, (5)-84 pages. Rebound in card boards, with most of the original printed front wrapper laid down on front board. Page dimensions: 183 x 108mm. An account of Samuel Marsden (1765-1838). "The following account, which formed a series of communications to The Parramatta Chronicle, was never intended for any other mode of publication [. . .] At the solicitation, however, of several friends of the late Mr. Marsden, he has ventured to reprint his remarks in their present shape." - from the Preface, page iii. "Mr. Marsden had his faults as well as all other men; but the peculiar circumstances, in which he was placed in the early days of the colony, will afford a sufficient answer to many of the charges which have been urged against his ministerial character" - from the Preface, page iv. "It is rather singular that this little work respecting Mr. Marsden, should have been printed at the very Press which that Rev. Gentleman introducted into New Zealand." The Press (in consequence of the arrival of others better adapted for the Church Mission,) was sold by the Society to Mr. Isaacs, who brought it with him to Parramatta" - page 84.
