8vo. [5], vi-xviii, [3], 2-525, [3] pp. Navy cloth with gold lettering on the spine. Price of 35s. net on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with a frontispiece and several additional black and white in-text illustrations. Originally published in 1941 as A Short History of Science. This publication is an updated, revised version of the original. Charles Singer was a biologist and lecturer at Oxford University. Jacket shows a touch of rubbing.
