Penguin. UK. 1965. Paperback. First edition in this format. A solid copy in first edition and hard to find. Rachel Carson wrote 'Silent Spring' to expose the dangers of pesticides on wildlife. The book awoke the world to the threats posed to the environment by human practices. Includes an introduction by Lord Shackleton and preface by Julian Huxley who was the founder of the World Wildlife Fund. Covers are bright and strong with slight age toning to white areas. Old price of 5/- to front cover. Solid and complete spine is also age toned and is not 'broken' indicating it has been looked at briefly but not read. The pages are age toned and the book is a little musty. Not exlib and packed and sent with care. bdrm.
