octavo This is the first UK edition of the central work of J R R Tolkien?s mythos. The dust jacket has a little sunning to the spine, making the red in the title appear more orange. Some wrinkling is at the top front. The price of £4.95 is still intact. Protected in a polyester jacket. The book appears to have been read as the spine is slightly crooked, but it can be fixed by setting it under some weight. Tolkien worked on this for 60 years but it was only after he died in 1973 that his son took on the challenge to edit his notes and rough drafts to see it in print. It is the loose basis for the TV show The Rings of Power.
