Complete in two (2) volumes, uniformly bound in goldenrod buckram, lettered in gold foil, with untrimmed text block edges, slipcased in matching cloth. 308 pp.text, 323 illus. including 260 color, both tipped-in and (Vol. II) (54) color plates, some folding. 1st American/1st English-language edition, originally published in Italy in 1965. Vol. I shows a few inked notations on pp. 33-39 by the tipped-in plates of the Popes and two pages with highlighting, interiors otherwise unmarked and fully intact, all plates present without folds or tears. Dust jackets Fine/as issued. Slipcase Near Fine to Fine with minor soiling and a few surface blemishes. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall.
