Octavo. [1], 263 pages, [13] pages of advertisements. Frontispiece photograph of the author. Illustrated. Dark brown cloth hardcover with gilt title on the spine. Cloth is edge worn and torn on the corners. Light edge elsewhere to the extremities. Old news paper clippings taped to the edges of page 211 which is the title page to "Sketches of Prominent Men and Women of Pitt County." Also some clippings taped to the blank verso page 212. Clippings are torn with stains to the pages from the old tape. The clippings relate to the Tyson family. On page 213 is a sketch of General Lawrence Davis Tyson. Previous owner's inscription on the front paste down and dedication page is "M E Tyson, Greenville, N.C." Laid inside the front cover are 4 manuscript stationary sheets of paper from "Hotel Carolina" Raleigh, North Carolina. The writing on the Hotel letterhead relates to the Tyson family.
