A collection short prose pieces and (principally) poems. Askham was, like the earlier John Clare, a self-educated working-class poet. He lived and worked (initially as a shoe-maker) in and around Wellingborough in Northamptonshire. This was his last collection of (prose and) verse, published in the year before his death.
