Skin Fields

*Skin Fields* is a photobook of remarkable emotional depth in which Àlex Domènech explores intimacy, desire and identity through a deeply human perspective. Built around photographs made between 2018 and 2024 in countries including Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco and Spain, the project ventures into spaces where expressions of affection and sexual diversity coexist with environments shaped by repression, conflict and uncertainty. Rather than relying on a narrative driven by drama, Domènech focuses on quiet gestures of closeness, shared vulnerability and the body's ability to become a place of refuge in the face of external hostility. His photographs move between portraiture, landscape and detail, creating a visual narrative in which vulnerability becomes a powerful act of resistance. The sequencing of the book unfolds naturally, establishing a delicate balance between moments of silence, tension and tenderness. Each photograph speaks to the next, creating an immersive experience that invites the viewer to reflect on the boundaries between the public and the private, between what can be revealed and what must remain hidden in order to survive.
