About this Item
A wonderful first edition guide and history of English slang covering three continents, written by expert Eric Partridge. Containing a history of slang, as well as vocabularies of English, American and Australian slang.Written by Eric Partridge (1894-1979), a lexicographer of the English language specialising in slang. His works numbered forty lexicographical books, and included dictionaries of slang, as well as 'Songs and Slang of the British Soldiers', 'A Charm of Words', 'A Dictionary of RAF Slang' and 'Usage and Abusage: a Guide to Good English'.A rather smart first edition of this fascinating lexicographical work. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart; the spine is slightly faded, but otherwise just a little general wear. Internally, generally firmly bound; front hinge is a little exposed but remains tight. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 783R12
