PreSchool-Grade 3-This short handbook fills a gap on etiquette shelves. Two-page chapters are devoted to a dozen different situations in which good behavior is useful in getting along with people. Table manners, party dos and don'ts, introductions, and being a good sport are all discussed. Cell phone and e-mail etiquette are included as well as how to write a basic letter. Humorous cartoon watercolor and pen-and-ink pictures illustrate the tips that are discussed. A sidebar for each section called "Ultimate NO-NOs" emphasizes important points to remember, e.g., "[Never] uninvite someone to your party" and "[Never] say yuck if you receive a gift you do not care for." The topics range from table manners, introductions, and phone protocol to being a good host and a good sport. The spreads have the same design, with full-color spot art and short paragraphs of text. The "Ultimate NO-NOs" sidebars add a nice touch, discouraging such uncouth behavior as "tapping your feet impatiently if you are bored with someone's conversation" and "uninviting someone to your party."
