In 1946, Seaver was appointed bishop's vicar of Kilkenny Cathedral in Ireland, but even after his retirement his interest in polar affairs and writing biographies remained until his death in 1976. Physical description: 4 page manuscript letter to Seaver from Angela Mathias (widow of Apsley Cherry Garrard, whose account of his experiences on Scott's final expedition in The Worst Journey in the World became a classic of Polar literature) with a further 8 manuscript pages where she quotes directly from Henry King's The Exequy, plus 2 other lengthy letters from her. Dictionary of National Biography Supplement printed letters to Seaver requesting a contribution to the supplement a notice of life of Apsley Cherry-Garrard.
