Smith of Wootton Major First US Edition

First American edition, first impression, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1967. A lovely little book which is not commonly seen in the UK. Unlike the UK first edition, this edition has a dustjacket, which features an illustration from the book by Pauline Baynes. Bright dustjacket has been price clipped, with two small 1cm tears to the top edge of the rear panel, a few small marks, a hint of tanning to the spine, otherwise smart, and in a removable protective wrapper. Clean sage green covers with green decoration to the front and gilt lettering to the spine. Tidy covers, yellow dyed top edge, clean bright pages with no inscriptions. Very good + condition. Smith of Wootton Major is a wonderful short story about a once every 24 years celebration with a great cake and journeys through the magical lands of Faery. It is beautifully written, just like any other Tolkien work, and its very easy to read. Size is approx 17x11.5cm.
