Social Realism in the Poetry of T.V. Reddy

This critical assessment of the poetry of the eminent poet T. Vasudeva Reddy is by S. Hari Krishna, an emerging talented critic on Indian writing in English who makes his potential voice heard in literary circles with this work of lasting quality. The shrewdness of the writer lies in the choice of the poet as well as in the choice of theme and it is an organically developed critical document of the early phase and the later phase of Dr. Reddy s poetry. His first two introductory chapters show his exhaustive study of Indian English poetry and he has very carefully and convincingly introduced the poet of his study i.e. Prof. T.V. Reddy at the end. The next three chapters devote on the early phase covering the first five poetry collections of T.V. Reddy. The next three chapters provide an analytical study and a critical interpretation of the three later poetry books of T.V. Reddy. The last chapter is the concluding one which presents a judicious critical summation of the entire critical work. This is an eminently written critical work on the poetry of T.V. Reddy focusing on the aspect of social realism with probing critical insights. (jacket).…
