McCartney founded Promise Keepers, the men's Christian renewal movement, in 1990 while coaching the University of Colorado's football team to a national championship. This confessional memoir traces his torturous road to these triumphs. Sixteen-hour days six to seven days per week led to coaching and religious successes but left no time for family. By 1993, his long-suffering wife, Lyndi, had fallen into a deep depression, losing 80 pounds due to bulimia.
