First Edition (first printing). Tall 8vo. vii, 160pp. Burgundy cloth lettered in gold at the spine and with a blind border to the upper and lower boards. Some light partial browning to the free endpapers. A very good copy in tanned and nicked dust wrapper, with just a little loss from the spine ends and corner tips and a small triangle of tape-repaired loss from the upper edge, impacting the title lettering. Six essays: 'William of Malmesbury "On the Antiquity of Glastonbury"', 'Peter of Blois', 'Early Somerset Archdeacons', 'The First Deans of Wells', 'Bishop Jocelin and the Interdicy', and 'The Saxon Abbots of Glastonbury' (I'm pretty sure that the last one is an indie band).
