Hardcover. Condition: VG. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Very Good. Ann Bridge (pseudonym for Mary Ann Dolling Sanders) was a popular english novelist of her day (mostly entertaining travelogues). She was married to a British diplomat and spend much time in China and Yugoslavia. She also wrote the supernatural tale "And Then you Came" in 1948. A collection of 11 stories. A VG or better book, slight lean, fading of the lettering on the spine. Internally book is clean and in fine condition. Provenance - From the Gary Munson Collection. Seller Inventory # 8465

Octavo, pp. [i-vi] vii [viii] 1-282 [283] [284: printer's imprint], original terra cotta cloth, spine panel stamped in white, top edge stained terra cotta, bottom edge untrimmed. First edition, first printing. Collects eleven stories at least four of which have ghostly elements, presented in a subtle and restrained manner. The author was married to a British diplomat and spent a good deal of time abroad, including China, using some of these locations for her story settings. She also wrote the supernatural novel AND THEN YOU CAME. Bleiler (1978), p. 30. Small bookplate with Christmas 1936 gift inscription affixed to the front free endpaper.
