Description:
This is a Near Fine condition, first edition copy of Pohl's/Kornbluth's brilliant satire of a future in which the world is governed by advertising agencies. It is volume H2 in the Ballantine Books Hardcover Series -- an experiment in publishing that produced an incredible series of virtually all original work. Each title of the series was issued simultaneously in paperback and hardcover editions. Most of the hardcopies went to libraries and were generally a small print run, which makes this copy, which is not library-stamped, quite uncommon. The 179-page book measures 5.25 x 7.75 inches. Its hardcover is in bright green with yellow lettering on the spine. The first endpaper is slightly loose, otherwise the book is very tight. The book's pages, printed on the paper of the era, are browning some. The classic Richard Powers illustrated dust jacket is in Very Good+ condition with the original $1.50 on the front flap, but shows some wear on the tips and has a small stain on the front cover and black flap.
