The first edition of this uncommon large paper volume dedicated to British sports and sportsmen by Lionel Edwards. The first edition of this work, an uncommon title in commerce. Delightful collection of Lionel Edwards's paintings celebrative of field sports and more. Seventeen plates in colour feature description and commentary by Edwards himself. Collated complete with eighteen plates including frontispiece.With an introduction by Crascredo.Lionel Edwards was a British artist known for his paintings of horses and British country life, as well as hunting scenes, horse racing, shooting and fishing. He contributed to 'Country Life,' 'The Sphere,' and 'The Graphic.' In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally generally smart with light bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards lightly marked; rear board with minor faint damp marks. Front free endpaper was excised. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to occasional leaf, pages otherwise generally very clean throughout. Good. Seller Inventory # 856A6
