The book grew out of a shared interest in observing and capturing photographically the fascination that their own urban children had for rural life whilst on holiday on a farm in Devon. Nick started his photographic career in 1970 and works on a variety of commissions throughout the world. Beverley began writing for children in 1981. They live in London with their two daughters, Kate and Rachel. Discover is a series of books about the real world. Each book is based on personal experience. The books are illustrated in full colour, and are at once informative and highly enjoyable. They provide stimulating non-fiction reading for young children.
