Two novels by the Russian naturalist Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (in the modern transliteration), 1818-1883, who was much admired by both James and Conrad. Part of Holt's popular edition "Leisure Hour Series" - "A collection of works whose character is light and entertaining, though not trivial." This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition, but a later issue - the adverts are dated 1884. Mustard-yellow cloth binding, with lettering and decorations in black. Clean text; 219 pages; the endpapers are advertisements for Holt publications, printed in red. This is an ex-libris copy, with a pocket and checkout slip in the rear; these are the only treatments, and this remains an attractive copy. Size: 12mo - over 6�" - 7�" tall.
