Add to basketFirst edition, published in Beirut in 1963 during a formative period in Lebanese publishing. An uncommon early hardcover edition, increasingly sought after for the literary and historical significance of the author, and seldom encountered in collectible condition.
Very Good in published original red cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Pages are clean and unmarked throughout, with some mottling to the page edges. Page 257 bears a shallow impression from an object with three projections, lightly affecting the final 15 pages; text remains fully legible and unaffected (see photos). Dust jacket present and intact, though heavily chipped and edgeworn.
Rima Alamuddin (1941 to 1963) was a Lebanese writer and journalist active during Beirut?s vibrant literary scene of the early 1960s. Spring to Summer, published in 1963, remains her principal literary work and reflects the promise of an emerging voice in modern Middle Eastern literature in English. Tragically, her life was cut short later that same year at the age of 22, lending additional historical interest to this scarce first appearance.
