London. Richard Bentley, New Burlington Street. 1850. First Edition. 12mo. (7 x 4 1/2). 192 pp. Engraved frontispiece with tissue guard. With a total of six plates with tissue guards. Those two fine English bibliographers, Westwood and Satchell, heaped an unusual amount of praise on this book:Quoting from Gentleman's Magazine "has the contemplative man's recreation been rendered more attractive, nor the delight of a country life set forth with a truer or more discriminating zest in these pleasant pages." Whew. The book is bound in its original green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and decoration on the front cover. The spine is faded to brown and the top of the spine is a little frayed; otherwise clean and very good.
