The first edition of this illustrated work by George Seton exploring the history of St. Kilda The first edition.A charming topographical work on the archipelago St. Kilda, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.This work explores the history of the island and it's beauty in a vividly descriptive manner, with interesting notes on the lives, culture, and education of those living there.Illustrated with eleven plates.Collated, bound without the frontispiece.Written by the Scottish philanthropist George Seton. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light marks and rubbing to the cloth. Spine is faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, binding is strained in places. Pages are bright and clean. Plate facing page 16 is detached but present. Bound without the frontispiece. Good.
