Item description from seller

xlix, 305 pp; figs. Original cloth. Red pencil signature of former owner on title page; ink name stamp on pastedown. Else Very Good. 'In his 1914 article (p. 818), as well as in the appendix that he had added to the revised edition of Purchasing Power of Money (1913a, p. 494), Fisher referred to a book that he hoped shortly to publish about his plan. . . . This finally appeared in 1920 under the title Stabilizing the Dollar and is the most systematic and detailed presentation of the compensated dollar proposal. . . . in this book Fisher coined the term 'money illusion' to denote 'the illusion that money is always fixed in value,' and that it is only the prices of goods that change' (Don Patinkin, 'Irving Fisher and His Compensated Dollar Plan', p. 15, 17; Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Economic Quarterly, Volume 79/3, Summer 1993).
