Seller: Healy Rare Books, Galway, Ireland
Condition: V.G. First. Forbes A/L pp. viii - 123. With 8 colour plates and 32 other illustrations. Original green cloth, gilt title on cover and spine. Interesting ephemera including signed letter from Stanhope Forbes at Newlyn dated September 1900 requesting details of "my picture from the Polytechnic and requesting return of my Manuscript as soon as the printer has done with it". Dublin born Stanhope Forbes was one of the most famous artists of the Newlyn School and lived in the Cornwall fishing village for many years. His wife, Elizabeth, Canadian born, was a very talented artist in her own right, as is apparent in the illustrations of her work in this book. Scarce work enhanced by ephemera.
