About this Item
[nice clean copy with minimal shelfwear; jacket lightly edgeworn, spine a little darkened with some dampstaining along the rear hinge, minor paper loss to spine extremities]. Novel of the American industrial scene, "a story of Americans from every walk of life who are forced to fight for their rights, their jobs and their lives. Leaders from the ranks face leaders who were born with silver spoons. Simple citizens touch greatness and those whose power should make them great explore the depths of perfidy and selfishness. [The author] does not distribute the blame but places it squarely where it belongs." (And that would be, basically, on the factory owner in the small Connecticut city where the story is set, whose ruthless fight against unionization of his labor force nearly destroys the town itself.) Hanna 2816, citing both Blake and Prestridge, but curiously unremarked-upon by Rideout (perhaps not "radical" enough in its outlook?). Seller Inventory # 25770
