1st ed., octavo, pp vii, 143, i. Original cloth boards, spine rebacked with new paper spine label, corners bumped, markings to boards, small fishing holes to upper corners earlier pages, foxing and light staining to endpapers. Stamp of Henry Prinsep ("H.P.") to front and rear paste-downs with offsetting from stamp to end-papers. Contents generally clean. Very good condition. Irwin arrived in the Swan River Settlement in June 1829, as commandant of the military forces. His book was the first published account of the Colony and remained a valuable source. It includes a chapter on Aborigines. This book from the library of Henry Prinsep with his stamp (H.P.) to both boards. Prinsep was an early settler in Western Australia and had an interest in art and literature. Prinsep's 1875 and 1876 drawings of incidents in the explorations of Sir John Forrest and Ernest Giles were included in the published accounts of their expeditions.
