482 Pp. Maroon Cloth, Gilt. First Edition Stated On Title Page. Fine, Very Slight Fading To Spine Cloth, Lean To Spine, Pencil Inscription From Cal Tech Professor Robert L. Daugherty (1885-1978) To H. N. Tyson, Also A Professor There, And With A Few Pencilled Marginalia. In The 1930'S, Daugherty, Together With His Colleagues Theodore Von Karman And Robert Knapp, Served As Consultant On The Design Of The Precedent-Setting Water Pumps For The Colorado River Aqueduct. At That Time, This Was The Largest Pumping Project In The World, And It Has Since Played An Important Role In Th E Development Of Southern California . Later He Served As Consultant On The Design Of The 65.000 Hp Pumps For The Grand Coulee Dam And Irrigation Project. The Consulting That Gave Daugherty The Greatest Personal Satisfaction Was His Solution Of The Ventilation Problem On The Moffat Tunnel Of The Denver And Rio Grande Railroad. Postage, handling and insurance are extra, at estimated cost and processing fee. Non-standard and higher-valued international shipments are charged estimated postage and shipping costs, including full insurance for all shipments valued over $200.
